At some point they will have raised funds to help the future of the church.

By charging a small amount for tea, coffee and cake and biscuits, funds can be raised quite easily. Regular events are always a good thing for a church to consider as a way of raising funds. This is because they are virtually guaranteed to give them a regular income of sorts. But there are plenty of other events that can be arranged as well.
Churches can arrange all kinds of events all year round to help raise funds for various reasons. If a major task needs funding, such as the renewal of the church roof for example, lots of events may be arranged to bring in money for this purpose.
For instance, a sports day could be arrange for the children who attend the church. A guided walk of the local rural area could work well at certain times of the year when the weather is good. A fee to take part, complete with free tea and cake at the end, will bring in a good amount of money if the event is popular.
Other sponsored events could be focused on a particular time of year. For instance why not have a competition to decorate a chocolate egg at Easter? There are plenty of other occasions that could warrant a fund raising effort by the church in this way.
When a church raises money it can also raise awareness of what it stands for. Events which take place can often bring in people who do not attend the church regularly themselves. This brings up the opportunity to bring in funds from people other than those who attend the church. Gaining support from the local community is also very important.
