Church Fund Raising Activities

The whole country is dotted with churches of all kinds and sizes.  They are located in towns and cities and in villages and remote locations as well.  But regardless of what denomination the church is and how many parishioners it has, every single one of them has something in common.  At some point they will have raised funds to help the future of the church.

Fundraising is not an unusual event in church life.  Indeed, many churches actively raise funds to enhance their surroundings and the various things they can offer to other people.  Let’s take a closer look at fund raising for churches.

How many different ways can a church raise funds?

The most obvious way that a church regularly raises funds is by passing a collection plate round at every gathering.  But this is only the beginning – there are plenty of events and methods for bringing in more revenue.

Coffee mornings and similar get togethers work well in a church setting, because they allow members of the church to come together in a friendly setting.  By charging a small amount for tea, coffee and cake and biscuits, funds can be raised quite easily.  This is particularly true if this is a regular event that takes place on a weekly or twice weekly basis.

Regular events are always a good thing for a church to consider as a way of raising funds.  This is because they are virtually guaranteed to give them a regular income of sorts.  But there are plenty of other events that can be arranged as well.

Key events to raise funds and awareness of a particular church

Churches can arrange all kinds of events all year round to help raise funds for various reasons.  If a major task needs funding, such as the renewal of the church roof for example, lots of events may be arranged to bring in money for this purpose.

For instance, a sports day could be arrange for the children who attend the church.  A guided walk of the local rural area could work well at certain times of the year when the weather is good.  A fee to take part, complete with free tea and cake at the end, will bring in a good amount of money if the event is popular.

Other sponsored events could be focused on a particular time of year.  For instance why not have a competition to decorate a chocolate egg at Easter?  There are plenty of other occasions that could warrant a fund raising effort by the church in this way.

When a church raises money it can also raise awareness of what it stands for.  Events which take place can often bring in people who do not attend the church regularly themselves.  This brings up the opportunity to bring in funds from people other than those who attend the church.  Gaining support from the local community is also very important.

As you can see, there are plenty of ways a church can raise funds.
