Charity Fund Raising Ideas

If you are thinking about raising funds for a particular charity – whether it’s for an animal charity, one focusing on eradicating a particular disease or one that is involved with the environment – there are lots of ways to do it.

In fact, most charities would be only too pleased to hear about fresh ideas for fundraising.  You can do lots of things in an effort to raise funds for any kind of charity – all you have to do is brainstorm.

Go for a traditional idea that always works well

You don’t always have to come up with something unusual to raise funds for charity.  For example, plenty of school children have tried a sponsored silence to help bring in cash for their chosen charity.  Sponsored walks, bike rides, fun runs and even sponsored spells are all popular ways to bring in funds.

You will usually find that most charities are only too happy to provide you with ideas if you want to raise money for them.  While they enjoy receiving regular donations, they like receiving monies from those who have done a sponsored event of some kind too.

The reason for this is obvious.  If you want to give money to your favourite charity, you may only be able to afford to donate £10 at one time.  But if you decide to do, say, a sponsored swim with everyone sponsoring you for every length you complete, you could bring in a lot more money as a result.  Many people try these kinds of events and raise hundreds if not thousands of pounds as a result.

Or opt for an unusual fund raising idea instead

There is nothing wrong with doing something a bit more inspired if you want to get away from the usual sponsored events.  For example you may not be suited to doing something physical like a sponsored swim or bike ride.  But there are plenty of alternatives you could try instead.

Some people will go to a car boot sale to see how much money they can raise by selling off everything they no longer need or want.  When people know you are collecting for charity they will usually be more generous too!

Look to your hobbies to help you find fund raising ideas as well.  How about indulging your love of cooking and raising funds for your green charity at the same time?  Bake some fairy cakes and add green food colouring to the mix before you bake them – they will certainly catch peoples’ eyes as well as getting the message across.

As you can see there is no end to the number of fund raising ideas you can come up with.  Whether you are raising funds by organising an event, doing something unusual at work or simply organising a tea and coffee morning, the main thing is to attract as much attention as possible.  This will ensure you get the biggest response – and the most money as well.
